Goodness

I am so ridiculously tired of certain things going on and that's all I'm going to say.

I watched the movie "Dark Harbor" yesterday and it was interesting. Interesting as in I'm not particularly sure what to think about it. The plot was driving enough to bring it to the conclusion, but it wasn't particularly a "what's going to happen" plot. Plus the end was just a bit abrupt, and the plot just skipped to the event that caused the conclusion in a way that it seemed as if the writers didn't know how to bring the movie to end. The concept of the plot was most certainly interesting, but in the end I think it could've been better. (Alan Rickman was in it and he just made the movie- as most Rickman fans would agree.)

Tonight may be "Wild Target" or "Bottle Shock."

Anyway, I am very angry at the moment. I really am trying my best to control my emotions and get past these anger issues I have, but at the moment I am clenching my fists. I won't write why because it's personal, but I am so angry beyond words right now. Please Lord, give me the strength to fix my anger issues. Please Lord, fix the issue that is making me so angry.

I am a "Liberal"

I know I have expressed this statement and my reasons why I consider myself a "liberal" (quotation marks necessary) to quite a few people. According to the constitution set by our forefathers, I am indeed a "liberal." In fact, Republicans as a whole are "liberals."
Last semester I took the course "Western Civilization: 1648-Present." The professor was from Spain, which he explained is a socialist country. He then further asked the students (between eighty and ninety students total) what makes a republican a republican. The responses varied, but a few answers were: "A republican wants as limited government interaction with the economy", "A republican believes all have a right to an education",  "A republican favors capital punishment", "A republican prefers federal limitations and a larger State role", etc...
The professor then told us that our constitution was founded by liberals and democrats and that the beliefs and values of the republican party follows that of the constitution, whereas the present-day democratic party followed that of the socialist values. Furthermore, he explained that according to the world (excluding America) to be a republican in the U.S. is to be a liberal or a democrat. To be a democrat or a liberal in the U.S. is to be a socialist.
The constitution of the United States of America was founded on the principles of the Enlightenment, which at the time was a radical and liberal. Within our very Pledge of Allegiance it states that the government is (supposed to be) a Republic. "...and to the republic for which it stands..." By this reasoning we must look at the values of the U.S. as a Republic and the values and laws set forth by the constitution. If our values are democratic by nature and we were founded as a Republic then it stands to reason that to be "republican" is in fact to be "democratic."
So when a republican calls a democratic in the U.S. a socialist they are actually correct. The constitution is democratic and liberal and the republican party adheres to it strictly speaking. The liberals follow the values of the socialist party. American liberals are socialist and American republicans are liberals.
Perhaps this view is a bit naïve, and I am by no means a politician. But it's a standard that the world holds for political parties, and many foreigners have expressed to me that the U.S. is becoming a socialist country. We cannot ignore this and we must question our own government and its values. People are adamant against being called "socialist." So if people do not want to be labeled as such then they should look at their own values and beliefs. One cannot expect to be called anything other than what they are.
Therefore I am an American Republican- worldwide a liberal.
And I'm not ashamed to say it.

"The party will continue until morale improves."

Everyone needs to have a party every now and then. Even Voldemort.

The semester is starting soon, which is exciting. I feel like the summer is a completely different life from the rest of my life. I worked all summer, which was great so I could make money and meet new people. But the summer seems to be a detachment from how my life really is and how I really want it to be. I'm anxious to get back to class and begin another journey that will be taking me further than my summer job will. As I told my friend, during the summer I'm waiting for my life to begin again.
The party for me is life, and morale will most definitely improve once I start to live it again.

Privacy rant.

I missed an entire summer's worth of blogging. There hasn't been much to add that I would add and all the eventful happenings of the summer I won't advertise. Blogs may be about writing what happens in your life, but even with a private blog there is no guaranteed safety with the internet. Plus I'd rather tell my friends then write a blog about everything since friendship is much more important. I think people tend to forget that in a way since the world revolves around technology and staying connected through sites like facebook and blogging, and we all tend to rely on them to stay in touch.
It's all well and good to stay in touch, but when you only intend on being friends with someone via the internet then it is more a friendship with the computer than with the person. Skype is probably the best way to stay in touch with someone since you can have a video chat with them and see the person you are speaking with. Even if they're not next to you they're still there face to face. It makes lying to someone harder and closing the gap between friends who are worlds apart easier. However video chatting with someone you've never met in person poses many threats, including chats that turn sexual when it is not warranted.
Being friends with someone through the internet that you've never met is a bit scary. Pen pals in different countries are fun to have, but there is also a lot of danger since you don't really know who you're talking to, and people have a tendency to reveal personal information that could lead them to be harmed.
Facebook now offers a feature where your phone number is now available for your friends to see. Luckily it can be disabled, but it is extremely scary since people will now be able to get in touch with those who don't know each other. Stalkers can now get in touch with the person they're stalking. Minors can be preyed upon even more by pedophiles and rapists. Facebook is a great way to stay in touch, but it is getting out of hand when something so personal can be published on the internet. There are people who I personally do not want to have my phone number. Standard features such as this are robbing users of their right to privacy. If it hadn't been for my friends (whom I spend time with outside of facebook posts) then I would not have been aware of this feature. How many people have not been aware of this feature? How many minors have personal contact information publicized for the world to see?
Speaking about your personal life through blogging is the decision of the individual, but I would strongly caution those who do to maintain a level of privacy so strangers cannot contact you outside of a blog comment. Be aware that when you publish a blog post online there are people reading this- not just a computer. Make sure you can have the option of making your profile and blogs private or public.

Russian

I have decided that these are going to be the three languages I'm going to be taking for the B.A.
1) Italian
2) Russian
3) Spanish

I'm up for a challenge so I think I can do this and anything else I pursue in life.

The double P: Priest and Psychology

These two are completely unrelated. It just seemed a little catchy. Well, maybe I'll be able to analyze Priest from a psychological point of view tomorrow.

After my biology exam tomorrow I am going to see the movie Priest. It will be a celebration of the end of finals and finishing the semester. My dad gave me a free movie ticket so I don't even have to worry about paying for it. It will be a delightful escape from reality.

On a different note:
Someone in my psychology class solicited from the class a writing assignment for the psychology research requirement. He got caught naturally. It's good to see that the professor caught him so quickly. It's a shame to see that people are so oblivious to the fact that they will get caught for academic dishonesty, which is clearly stated in every syllabus for every course.
Since the professor has to deal with this, the grades for psychology will be delayed in being posted. Normally the exam grades are posted within a day of the exam or even the evening of the exam. To know that they won't be posted for a few days makes me nervous. I want to get a good grade on this exam to maintain an A in the course.

(As a nice side note: I got an A in Western Civilization: 1648-Present!)

I can tell this movie is going to be underrated or ignored due to Pirates of the Caribbean
It looks better than Pirates of the Caribbean
My sister's husband agrees.

Playlist blurb

1) I like the term "blurb." It's just a good word that's completely underused.

2) I'm trying to get through my David Bowie playlist completely. I've listened to it all, just not all the way through.
So far I'm on day three (four?).
And I just got to the end of it. I don't even have his entire collection either.
I'm missing one or two albums.
That's David Bowie for you.

Takes up all your time.
David Bowie and his wife Iman.
For all those Bowie fans out there: You can't even be jealous of this because it's just such a wonderful photo.

This is from Bowie's Pinups album.
For those who don't notice the woman:
That's Twiggy.
This is the photo shoot that made her famous.
Bowie has that effect on people.

David Bowie invented the mullet.
Seriously.
He combined two different hairstyles together and created the mullet.

Rednecks be grateful.

And that is my daily plug on David Bowie.
